PIE PACKERS
Pie packers prepare the pies for delivery to the cafe each
morning. How well you do your job will influence how well the day
goes for the pie servers. Pie packers ...
- Bag pies in resealable baggies ONLY as
required by health rules. Please do NOT use baggies with
twisties, foil, or Saran Wrap. Bag pies if necessary.
- Check Label of each pie for proper info
and legibility. Relabel if necessary. Place labels near
the center area of the pies or along the seal facing you.
They are hard for the servers to find when placed in the
corners, upside down, along the back or on the bottom.
- DOT with the proper date color code
sticker. Use distinct dot colors (i.e. no orange-red,
blue-green, etc.) for date codes.
- SORT and COUNT pies by type for
inventory. Tally pie counts by carrier on the pie check-in
sheets. Make sure check-in sheets travel with the pies to
the cafe. They will be returned to the pie coordinators
later.
- Load Pie Carriers for delivery to cafe.
- Report pie counts to the pie coordinator.
- NOTE: Pie Packers should obtain a temporary
church key from the office and arrive at the church by 6:45
AM on scheduled days to setup. Pies will arrive between 7:00
- 7:30 and must leave by 7:45.
Pie Carrier Inventory Sheets
Pie Carrier Inventory Sheets are
provided for identifying the type and quantity of pies delivered
to the cafe in each carrier. The pie packers at each church
should use these to make the cafe setup run smoothly. Packers
should review these sheets ahead of time and be familiar with the
pie types and organization. Pies are listed in alphabetical order.
For mixed-fruit combinations, the "berry" is always
first such as Strawberry-Rhubarb rather than Rhubarb-Strawberry.
