The cafe requires over 500 volunteer workers throughout the fair. We need as many as 32 workers per day. If you would like to help, contact one of our Schedule Coordinators.
Each day is divided into 3 shifts of 8-10 workers each. Early shift runs 9:00 AM- 2:00 PM and involves getting the cafe ready for the day. Mid-day shift runs 1:45 PM - 7:00 PM and is the hardest to fill. Late shift runs 6:45 PM - CLOSING and involves shutdown and cleanup. The cafe closes at 10:00 PM or earlier if business is slow. Cleanup takes 45 minutes to an hour. In addition to these 30 workers, 2 Day Managers oversee the cafe operations on a daily basis. Day Manager shifts run from 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM and 4:00 PM to CLOSING. Weekend shifts and Senior Citizens Day require all 10 positions to be filled. Other shifts generally operate with 8-9 workers.
The Day Manager, Cashier, Pie Server, and Cook positions require training. Other positions can be filled on a walk-in basis. Pie Server and Assistant Cook positions are the most intensive work operations.
Please arrive promptly for your work shift! Check in with the Day Manager when arriving and before leaving. Check with your day manager or coordinator for fair admission and parking fees.
