Stephen Ministries

The Stephen Ministry is an ongoing part of Asbury's mission to care for others. Stephen Ministers provide a one-on-one spiritual companionship to people who are going through a difficult time. Divorce, death, grief, depression, illness, recovery from substance abuse, unemployment, and family changes are all part of life. Stephen Ministers simply walk alongside another and provide a quiet, confidential and compassionate listening ear for a time, sometimes up to a year. It is a deeply rewarding experience for people to exercise their gifts of caring and compassion and to watch God work in peoples' lives. Stephen Ministers are trained to bring the compassion of Jesus Christ to another and to be a channel for God's healing.
